Junior doctors from across the West are awaiting the results of last night's ballot which could see thousands of medics go on strike over proposed changes to their contracts.

The ballot closed last night and results will be announced at 10am, with strike action from the doctor's union a possibility.

But Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has warned that patient care will be put at risk if doctors vote to go on strike next month.
