A pregnant woman from Portishead is risking her life so her baby can be safely delivered - by delaying intensive treatment for cancer.

Heidi Loughlin found out she had a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer when she was 13 weeks pregnant.

She is on chemotherapy but doctors suggested if she terminated her pregnancy she could start the more intensive type of treatment immediately - the type that could save her life. But she has decided to wait until the baby can be born prematurely in hospital.

She told us this decision took her and her partner "all of about ten seconds" to make, despite being afraid that she could be leaving her children without a mother:

If you want to keep up with Heidi's progress, she is writing a frank blog - which describes the emotional whirlwind of having cancer while pregnant.
