Thomson Airways says it won't fly to Sharm until at least the 25th November
Thomson Airways says it's extending the cancellation of flights from Bristol to Sharm el-Sheik until at least November the 25th. It follows the return of the first holidaymakers to fly back to the West from the Egyptian resort since the Russian plane disaster.
After 3 days the arrivals board at Bristol airport provided the news friends and family had been waiting for. And as holidaymakers were reunited with their loved ones, the relief was obvious. So too the realisation they were the lucky ones. Hundreds in Sharm el Sheik still don't know when they will get home.
That flight on Saturday night was the first into Bristol and as yet Thomson Airways haven't been able to say when the next one will be. All flights to the UK from the Egyptian resort were stopped on Wednesday after concerns a bomb may have caused a Russian flight from the resort to crash in the Sinai desert killing all 224 on board.
Increased security in Sharm has presented other problems as well, with no large luggage allowed on flights an estimated 100 tonnes of baggage has accumulated at the airport with no clear indication of how or when people will have it returned:

But with little information available, those waiting for loved ones face an anxious few days until their arrival home is confirmed.
