The owner of a holiday cottage business in Cornwall says she is against fees for parents to take their children out of school in term time to go on holiday.

West country MPs will discuss the impact of changes to term-time holiday rules at Westminster later today, after securing a special Parliamentary debate.

Steve Double, Conservative MP for St Austell & Newquay, says it also affects parents who work in the tourism industry as it's hard for them to spend family time together.

A recent survey found that fining parents who take their children out of school during term, has caused tourism businesses in the South West to lose up to 30 per cent of their income since 2013. 100,000 people from the region signed a petition against the law.
