Becky Watts Trial: Nathan Matthews confesses to killing the teen

Matthews said he wanted to teach Becky Watts a lesson

The jury were today read the prepared statement where Matthews confessed to killing Becky Watts.

In it, he told officers he had denied any wrong-doing to avoid "the pain and disappointment" he would cause his partner, Hoare, and his family.

Confessing to the killing, he said he had arrived at the family home, on Crown Hill, with the aim of kidnapping the teen "to teach her a lesson".

He then said, after Hoare had gone into the garden he retrieved the items and walked up to Becky's room, knocking on her door.

Matthews then said he went back into the house, slammed the door for Hoare's benefit and "acted as normal as possible". When they went home, after Hoare had fallen asleep, he went to the boot of his car and retrieved "the bags".

In the days that followed Matthews went back to his mum's house, then some days later, he dismembered the teen's body, enlisting the help of two unnamed males to hide the packages at 9 Barton Court.
