In pictures: Chippenham fire, cause likely to 'remain unknown'

The cause of an enormous fire which has destroyed a derelict building in Chippenham is likely to "remain unknown", as the former adult education centre has collapsed in on itself, making an investigation impossible.

At its height, the blaze in Hungerdown Lane was tackled by five Wiltshire fire crews, and gave off a large plume of smoke that could be seen from several miles away.

People in the area were advised to keep their doors and windows closed - and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue says that smoke could still rise from the area even though the fire is now out as relief crews damp down. Anyone concerned should keep doors and windows closed for the rest of the night.
