Donations for Calais head off on a musical note
A charity collecting for Calais is asking for donations with a difference - musical instruments.
The Colston Hall in Bristol is asking for unwanted, or unused, musical instruments - especially traditional drums - to hand to the migrant refugee camps across the Channel.
Grassroots charity Music Against Boarders believe making music has a host of therapeutic, social and cultural benefits.
You can donate your instruments at Colston Hall box office, Monday - Saturday, 10am - 6pm until October 16.
The instruments will be distributed to existing musicians on the camp and people who are interested in learning an instrument.
They will be taking a convoy of multi-lingual musicians along with the instruments to put on workshops on drumming, singing, guitar, dance and others.
They are particularly looking for:
Drums of the djembe and doumbek type
Ukuleles
Childrens' instruments
Instruments from Syria, Afghanistan, Sudan, Eritrea and Ethiopia
They also have a crowd funding page.
