1970s children's television classic "Trumpton" will be set alight in a huge bonfire next month. The fictional village has been recreated by volunteers from the Torrington Cavaliers to be burned as a charity fundraiser on Saturday August 29.

The blaze follows a long line of incredible bonfires in Torrington. For the past 40 years, local men and women have created the displays. They include a replica of HMS Victory and the Great Fire of London.

The bonfire is expected to raise many thousands of pounds for Macmillan, The Plough Arts Centre in Torrington and other local good causes.
