Going to the Glastonbury Festival? Weatherman Alex Beresford has first look at the festival forecast!
After a showery day on Monday the weather looks to settle down for Tuesday and Wednesday with plenty of dry weather on both days and only a low risk of very isolated showers. So for you early arrivals setting up tents there looks to be plenty of dry weather around Worthy Farm.
However, Glastonbury wouldn't be Glastonbury without the need for wellies. By Thursday things look to turn more unsettled from the west with some cloud and rain coming in at times, but there will be plenty of dry and sunny weather as well. The cloud and rain will be blown through on brisk southwesterly winds. The rain at this stage doesn’t look to be too heavy but people will get damp at some point.
Temperature wise by day with the southwesterly breeze bringing slightly warmer air are likely to be on the warm side for the time of year, however it will feel cooler when a band of cloud and rain moves through. We will also see relatively mild nights so it's not bad weather for camping or glamping! At this stage there is a lot of uncertainty about the timings of rainfall but for the moment all the weather data shows it's going to be another mixed bag of weather so pack for everything like normal.
Here's how it's likely to pan out over the festival...
Thursday: Sunny spells and a few showery outbreaks of rain, mostly light.
Friday: Cloudier with a band of rain moving east, mostly light, with a few heavier bursts later.
Saturday: Back to sunshine and showers.
Sunday: Hints are that pressure looks likely to build from the south bringing a drier and brighter end to the weekend with the just the risk of very isolated showers.
