A volunteer with the Cornish charity Shelterbox has described the destruction and suffering, as well as the determination to survive, that she saw in Nepal.

Becky Maynard returned home earlier this week after spending almost a month in the earthquake-hit country, experiencing the 7.3-magnitude aftershock while she was there.

She told us that while Kathmandu has avoided major destruction, further out there is "absolute devastation", with villages destroyed and entire communities lost.

Volunteers have been distributing emergency shelter, getting to communities in need by helicopter, or even walking for three hours to reach the most remote villages.

She describes the people she met as "resilient, and determined to support themselves". However there are concerns that the arrival of monsoon season will make rebuilding even more of a struggle - and she says it is important the world does not forget what is happening.

Becky also spoke to us about the emotional impact of her work.
