A raffle organised by Hollywood actor Robert Downey Junior has already reached a $2 million (£1.3 million) fundraising target for the Dorset children’s charity Julia’s House - a hospice charity dedicated to helping life-limited children and their families.

The money will help the charity build a new hospice in Wiltshire so that more children will have access to the care and support currently available in Dorset.

Part of the raffle prize includes an invite to the premiere of Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The raffle has now raised $2,048,425, passing the $2 million goal earlier this morning. It will help towards the £3.5 million needed for the Wiltshire building project.

Downey Jr became interested in the charity after attending a fundraising event hosted by Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels director and Julia’s House patron, Guy Ritchie.

Posting on his Facebook page, the Hollywood actor was delighted the target had been reached.
