Porthleven: anniversary of the storm

The small fishing village of Pothleven is celebrating a remarkable recovery one year on from the storm which sunk six fishing boats and spelled disaster for the industry it relied so heavily on.

During the storm, the strength of the sea was so strong that it ripped out boats tied in place and tossed them into the harbour.

A huge amount of fishing equipment was destroyed as well as the damage to the harbour wall and businesses alongside it.

But the locals rallied around. Villagers, business owners and friends turned out to help in the rescue effort.

And it wasn't just manual labour. People from far and wide started to put their hands in their pockets to contribute too.

The small fishing village believes it's finally back to business as usual.
