Bristol Rovers new striker - "I'm here for consecutive promotions"
Bristol Rovers new signing Jermaine Easter says he turned down offers from five of League One's top ten clubs in order to sign for the Conference side. And he's eyeing consecutive promotions.
He signed an 18 month contract this week after being asked by the club to fire them back into the Football League at the first time of asking.
The Welsh international, who turned 33 today, admits the move was also partly motivated by a desire to start a family closer to his home.
Bristol Rovers are second in the Conference, six points behind leaders Barnet after losing only four league games all season. But they've been searching for a consistent and potent goalscorer to give them a cutting edge up front. Easter could be that man - he has scored 100 career club goals in the Championship and Football League.
Rovers became the 12th club of the striker's career after Millwall released him last week.
Meanwhile, Rovers manager Darrell Clarke denies that by signing Easter, the club is spending money beyond their league standing.
