The youth hostel made out of shipping containers
The Eden Project in Cornwall has come up with a rather unusual way of housing tourists; packing them inside shipping containers.
But it’s not nearly as sinister as it sounds. In fact the shipping containers have been converted into a brand new youth hostel, complete with en-suite bathrooms and flat-screen TVs.
The hostel can house up to 228 people in 58 bedrooms. We took a tour of one of them:
The new rooms fill a demand left when a nearby youth hostel closed earlier this year. Built on what used to be a car park, the containers overlook Eden and St Austell Bay in the distance.
