Gromit Unleashed raised £4.5 million for Bristol Children's Hospital
Twelve months ago Bristol was in the midst of Gromit fever as 80 sculptures were placed around the city in a trail that thousands upon thousands came to see. A year on and Gromit Unleashed has raised a staggering £4.5 million for Bristol Children's Hospital and to celebrate a new statue has been unveiled.
Unveiling a new Gromit sculpture has become a pretty big deal these days. The famous dog may have looked a little stunned at all the attention, but a year on from his trail around Bristol, he's still as popular as ever.
Aardman's Gavin Strange is responsible for the latest creation, which details some of the more unusual facts about this remarkable dog. Gavin is in fact the only person to have designed two Gromit's having produced one for last summer's trail.
Gromit Unleashed is just one part of the Grand Appeal which since it started in 1995 has raised £28 million pounds for Bristol Children's Hospital.
And Gromit's adventure is only just beginning. In a couple of weeks he'll be unleashed on Hong Kong for an exhibition there. So he had better get used to having his photo taken.
