Plans unveiled for Truro's 'Living village'

People are being asked their views on a farm and housing project in Truro city centre.

Developer Living Villages wants to build 155 homes at Higher Newham Farm, near Morlaix Avenue.It says 30% of the properties will be available at below market rates.

The development includes a working model farm which will be run by Duchy College.It'll offer agricultural courses and use volunteers living on site.

80% of the land will be gifted to the people of Truro through a new charitable trust. That's according to developer Matthew Taylor.

Cornwall Food Foundation, the charity behind Jamie Oliver's Fifteen will operate a restaurant using produce grown on the farm.

A public consultation into the development is being held on Truro's Lemon Quay until Sunday.

A planning application is expected to be submitted at the end of June.
