Murdered Sian O'Callaghan's boot found in pond

Detectives investigating the murder of Sian O'Callaghan have recovered property belonging to her in Wiltshire.

The brown 'New Look' left boot belonging to the office worker was found on Wednesday floating in a pond, two miles from the village of Ramsbury, near Marlborough.

Today police divers pulled out a second boot, which she was wearing when she vanished.

Christopher Halliwell, a 50-year-old taxi driver, is serving a life sentence after admitting the murder of the 22-year-old.

Sian was abducted and brutally murdered in March 2011 after leaving a nightclub in the Old Town area of Swindon.

Halliwell has never revealed what happened to her in the five days before her body was found in a shallow grave at Uffington, in Oxfordshire.

Extensive searches are now being carried out in the area.

Sian's mobile phone, her handbag, keys and some jewellery have never been recovered.

Police believe the remote area near Ramsbury where the boots were discovered was where Halliwell brought Sian on the night she died. Her body was later discovered at a different location.

Mobile phone records show that Halliwell was in the area around Ramsbury around the time Sian went missing.

Halliwell also led police to the grave of a second woman, Becky Godden-Edwards, who disappeared around 2007 when she was 25.But he was formally cleared of murdering her when a judge ruled that a senior detective had broken the rules surrounding arrests.

DCI Memory said they were still investigating Becky's murder and added: "I can't rule anything out with what we will find at this location."Obviously it is significant and I'm really open minded about what we might find here."
