Lambs born to ewes rescued from the floods
Newborn lambs are frolicking in the Bath and West Showground's Main Ring after their mothers were rescued from the flooded Somerset Levels.
The pregnant ewes were brought to the Showground in Shepton Mallet from a farm in Muchelney, badly affected by the floods.
Ewes were brought to the showground as part of the Somerset community's rescue effort and are being housed in the Showground's permanent buildings.
The Society has launched a Somerset Farmers' Regeneration Fund to help those affected by the flooding on the levels get back on their feet when the water recedes.
The Fund is not for emergency relief but for the medium term and came about at the request of Somerset agricultural businesses. It is running alongside the Society's Somerset Levels Relief Fund launched six months ago to tackle the long term needs of the area.
More information on the appeal can be found via the Society’s website www.bathandwest.com
