HorseWorld, based in Whitchurch, made a loss of more than £1 million in 2011 and 2012. The charity had hoped plans to expand, including selling off some of its land would secure its future.

But in November a crucial planning application for a new visitor centre was rejected by Bath and North East Somerset Council.

It means around half the staff at HorseWorld in Whitchurch face possible redundancy.

The GMB union which represents many of the workers at HorseWorld says staff at the charity are devastated and they will be holding talks with their members tomorrow.
