Serious landslip calls a halt to South Devon Railway
The South Devon Railway say they may need extra donations to support the association after a landslip put paid to plans to run services over the rest of the festive break.
Volunteers of the steam driven railway this morning found their way blocked by fallen trees, soil and stone between Buckfastleigh and Staverton.
It's a big blow to the company as they'd been preparing to run services this Boxing Day for th first time in over 50 years -- probably since the line was closed to passengers by British Railways in 1958 -
The railway usually carries several thousand people over the line after Christmas and into the New Year.
The railway is hopeful that repairs will be completed in time for the SDR to reopen for February Half Term week (15-23 February).
