Carnival comes to Weston-super-Mare

It's carnival night in Weston-super-Mare tonight and in preparation a number of roads will be closed.

To make sure everyone has an enjoyable and safe evening, the following roads will be closed from 6pm and no-parking restrictions enforced:

  • Locking Road (from Ashcombe Road to Alexandra Parade)

  • Alfred Street (the whole length)

  • Baker Street – parking restrictions only for emergency access to Jubilee Road

  • Alexandra Parade (the whole length)

  • Regent Street (from the centre through to Marine Parade)

  • The Boulevard (from Alfred Street to Waterloo Street)

  • Waterloo Street (the whole length)

  • South Parade (the whole length)

  • Knightstone Road (from South Parade to Royal Parade)

  • Royal Parade (the whole length)

  • Marine Parade (from Royal Parade 350m southwards)

  • Beach Road (from Regent Street to 60m south of Carlton Street including all carriageways forming the links roads between Beach Road and Marine Parade)

  • Richmond Road

  • Carlton Street (the whole length)

  • Walliscote Grove Road (the whole length)

  • Walliscote Road (from Walliscote Grove Road to Station Road)

  • Station Road (the whole length)

  • Francis Fox Road (the whole length) – from 2pm to 11.59pm

  • Sunnyside Road North – parking restrictions only from Hildesheim Bridge for 180m westwards to Station Approach junction

  • Hildesheim Bridge (both carriageways)

  • Winterstoke Road (outward carriageways only) from Drove Road roundabout to Searle Crescent junction – from 7.30pm to 11.59pm.

Access to Marine Parade, including the Clifton Road intersection will be closed to all vehicles except coaches and construction vehicles from 6.30am to 11.59pm.

Police no-waiting cones will be put out on the roads affected by parking restrictions and there will also be warning signs.

Town centre car parks, with the exception of Locking Road, will be open and parking will also be available on the Beach Lawns from 2pm.

As all the floats will be leaving the town after the carnival on November 9, Winterstoke Road outbound only (between Drove Road and Herluin Way) will be closed from 8pm to midnight. Please avoid trying to leave the town using this road. Please use alternative routes.
