Taunton Deane Borough Council is to call on the Government to find a more humane solution to the problem of bovine TB. At a meeting last night, councillors agreed to write to the Secretary of State voicing concerns a cull won't work. A licence to start culling badgers in a part of West Somerset as well as part of Gloucestershire is expected to be issued this week.

Councils in Tewkesbury and the Forest of Dean have also voted to oppose the cull.
