From Bangkok to Gloucester for charity

He's been shot at, subjected to blistering temperatures, had numerous punctures and yet still he keeps going. In January cyclist Jamie McDonald started his bike ride from Bangkok to Gloucester.

He's funded the entire trip himself to raise money for a children's charity at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

His father says he is proud of his son's efforts but also a little concerned.

At one point he cycled into a war zone on the Afghanistan border. The hostel was staying in came under fire. His father, Donald, is rightly concerned about the dangers.

Jamie's cousin Kevin Brady is flying out to Turkey to meet up with him and they'll finish the final leg of the journey together. He's met up with young patients at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, which is to benefit from their fundraising. His costume is appropriate when you hear where they are due to rendezvous.
