Teams from Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Bristol, Bath, lots from the Gloucester areas plus the Midlands took part in the biggest event on the UK skittles calendar, the Blackthorn British Skittles Championships

Sixty-four teams of 10 players were involved with action on 16 alleys. They qualified from an original entry of 150. The championships are organised by the Torquay based Shoot Out Club who arrange up to 50 skittles weekends a year.

The West and Westcountry contingent features teams from Exeter, Bristol, Wareham, Street, Gloucester, Bridgwater, Cullompton, Barnstaple, Paignton, Weymouth, Bath, Dorchester, Weston-super-Mare, Stroud, Melksham, Glastonbury, Coleford, Bilbury, Totnes, Pensilva, Dewlish, Taunton, Berkeley, Malmesbury, Ross-on-Wye, Wellington and Portishead.
