Coach crashes through barrier and falls 30 feet

A coach carrying nine passengers has crashed through a barrier and fallen 30 feet near Bath.

The accident happened around 11.30am this morning at the junction of the A36 and Brassknocker Hill.

Avon Fire and Rescue has confirmed the coach left the road close to Limpley Stoke Bridge and fallen around 30 feet.

Ten fire engines are at the scene.

Two people have been released from the single-deck coach by firefighters using hydraulic cutting equipment. They have been taken to the Royal United Hospital.

There were seven other passengers on board the coach, who have also been receiving medical treatment.

Roads remain closed in the area to allow investigations to take place. It is hoped the road could open later this afternoon.
