Gold joy for kayak star McKeever
He's been called the "Usain Bolt of the water" and today Ed McKeever lived up to his nickname taking gold in the kayak sprint event.
The 28-year-old trainee accountant, from Bradford-on-Avon led from the start of his 200m race and didn't put a paddle wrong as he powered ahead of the field to victory.
Gold medal stardom is unlikely to go to Mr McKeever's head, however. He says after the Games, he plans to marry fiancee Anya Kuczha, and complete his accountancy exams.
Shortly after his win, a stamp in his honour went into production. A post box in his home town will also be painted gold tomorrow (Sunday.)
The gold medal winner in the kayak sprint is described by teammate Richard Jefferies as an "absolute animal" on the water.
His gold is number 26 for Great Britain.
