Campaigners are walking up a Somerset peak today to raise awareness of plans by the National Grid to install huge pylons across the county’s countryside. The company is currently considering whether power lines should be placed underground to protect areas of outstanding natural beauty such as the Mendip Hills.

The walk along Crook Peak begins at 11am. North Somerset MP Dr Liam Fox and Cheddar and Burnham MP Tessa Munt will join National Grid representatives, County Councillors and Conservation groups for the walk.
