Toddler mauled by dog starts breathing on own
A toddler who was mauled by a dog has started breathing on his own.
Two-year-old Keiron Guess was attacked after wandering into a neighbour's garden in Swindon. He lost his ear and was left with serious facial injuries.
He was airlifted to Frenchay hospital near Bristol where Doctors have put him in a medically induced coma to stop any infection.
He is being brought round for short periods of time.
Doctors have carried out seven hours of surgery to try and rebuild his left ear, nose and eye.
Keiron's grandfather, Dave Guess - who managed to fend off the ferocious beast and haul the tot to safety - confirmed he was now fighting back to fitness.
Keiron's parents Anthony, 23, and Stacey, 22, are by his bedside.Wiltshire Police recovered the dog - believed to be owned by Rastafarian Garfield King - and it was destroyed.No arrests have yet been made and police yesterday confirmed a second dog, also believed to be a Staffordshire bull terrier was still with the owner.
