Warhol sketch discovered by Devon man goes on display

You may remember the incredible story we featured a few weeks ago - of the Devon entrepreneur who bought a picture at a car boot sale in America for five dollars. Inside the frame was a hidden early sketch by pop artist Andy Warhol - and it was worth a fortune.

Now that sketch is going on display for the first time right here in the West Country. It's part of a project to get young people drawing more.

The drawing will be displayed at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol.

It was discovered by chance, Andy Fields, from Devon, uncovered the sketch that had been hidden - he thinks - for decades.

Experts say Andy Warhol sketched the image of singer Rudy Vallee when he was 11 years old. He went on to become an American Pop Art pioneer, famed for his pictures of soup cans and silkscreens of Marilyn Monroe.

And it's part of a plan by the Police. An art competition for youngsters - winners will have their pictures displayed next to a Warhol.
