Dewani CCTV footage to be broadcast
CCTVfootage which allegedly shows Bristol born businessman Shrien Dewani payinga taxi driver for organising his wife Anni's murder, is to be shown on televisiontonight.
It was taken from the couple's hotel in Cape Town and allegedlyshows the 32 year old preparing to hand over a plastic bag to taxi driver Zola Tongo, after the murder of his wife. But some of the footage also throws new light on the newly weds relationship, showing them affectionately interacting days before Mrs Dewani's death.
Mr Dewani from Westbury On Trym denies murder. He says he owed Tongo the money for his services as a tour guide. A High Court judgement on Mr Dewani's appeal against extradition to South Africa is due this Friday.
Mr Dewani's lawyers said: "Shrien is innocent and is determined to return to South Africa to clear his name and seek justice for his wife Anni. This can only be done when he is well enough and when his personal safety can be guaranteed.
"The Dewani family is hopeful that the British High Court will block any attempt to extradite Shrien until he has fully recovered and it is safe for him to stand trial, if charged."
