It's being billed as the best sports and leisure facility in the south west and today Plymouth's new Life Centre opens its doors to the public. The £46.5m centre will become a training ground for Olympic stars like Tom Daley. Daley is competing at the World Dive Series in Dubai this weekend but has already trained at the pool and has given it his seal of approval.

The Centre is also an official pre-Olympic games training camp for elite athletes from Canada and Lithuania.

But those behind the centre say its main aim is to get everyone involved in sports. It has facilities for swimming, netball, climbing, squash, table tennis and bowls amongst others.
