Nathan Matthews sentenced to life for the murder of Becky Watts
Nathan Matthews has been sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum of 33 years, for the murder of Becky Watts.
Matthews was found guilty of murdering Becky, his 16-year-old step-sister, during a "violent struggle" after the plans to kidnap her went wrong.
In sentencing, the judge said that a whole life order would not be imposed.
"Whole life orders are reserved for the worst of the worst cases. The case involving Becky is terrible, but in my judgement it does not require a whole life order." He added that this was in no way intended to diminish the loss suffered by Becky's family.
Matthews will be at least 61 before being considered for release. The judge said that the "reality is he might never be released".
