Junior doctors have voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action, with 98% calling for a walkout.
The first strike is planned for the 1 December where junior doctors will only provide emergency care. This will then be followed by an all-out walkout from 8am to 5pm on 8 December and then 16 December.
The British Medical Association said it was "keen to avert the need for industrial action". The doctors' union has approached conciliation service Acas for talks with Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt and NHS Employers.
