The funeral has taken place of a man killed in a hit and run in Somerset. 84 year old David Hick was killed after he was hit by a car in the village of Bruton in October. The funeral took place at All Saints church in Maiden Bradley. Two men and a woman arrested in connection with the collision have been released on bail.

Police investigating the death of a pensioner in a hit and run in Bruton in Somerset have re-arrested a 46-year-old man and 31-year-old woman from Somerset.

84-year-old David Hick died after the crash in Cole Road on 14 October.

Police say the man and woman have been released on police bail pending further enquiries and so the Crown Prosecution Service can be consulted over prosecution advice for them and a second man - from the London area - who was previously arrested.

They also want the driver of a dark coloured new-style VW Golf to come forward. It was driving along Cole Road just before the collision at 8.23pm, travelling from the direction of Sexey’s School towards the town centre.

A man in his 40s from Somerset is being held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. A woman, who was also arrested, has been released without charge. Police are still looking for a car, a dark-coloured Chrysler Grand Voyager in connection with the crash.

Two people have been arrested in connection with a hit and run in Bruton that killed an 84 year old man.

David Hick died on Tuesday night. A dark coloured Chrysler Grand Voyager was caught leaving the scene. A man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s, both from Somerset, remain in police custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The car still hasn't been traced, and police are urging anyone with information to contact them. The car's registration number is DS 02 NH1.

Police investigating the death of an elderly man in a hit and run in Bruton want to trace a car that was seen in the area at the time.

85-year-old David Hick was on his way to the shops with his two dogs on Tuesday evening when he was run down and later died.

Police would like to speak to the driver of a dark Chrysler Grand Voyager, which was driving through the town that evening - possibly heading to Frome or Evercreech.

They are also asking garages and car mechanics to be on the look out as it may have been damaged.

Police in Somerset are continuing to look through CCTV footage after an 85-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run.

David Hick was out walking his two dogs in the village of Bruton on Tuesday evening when he was struck by a car.

Officers are trying to trace a dark coloured 4x4 which was seen driving at speed, and also a light coloured 3 door hatchback with a stripe along the roof.

Tributes left to 85-year-old road death victim

A simple bunch of flowers marks the spot where an 85-year-old man was hit and killed by a car last night. Police say the man had just been on the phone to his daughter.

He told her he was going to walk down to the local shop to buy himself something to eat. The accident happened as he was crossing the road with his dogs. They were unharmed.
