Bristol honours victims of Orlando shooting

As America goes into mourning after the worst mass shooting in its history, Bristol has been commemorating those killed over the weekend.

On Monday Avon & Somerset Police tweeted an image of an LGBT flag being lowered at half-mast outside their headquarters. In Bath, the council also flew the rainbow flag to pay their respects:

This evening at 6pm, a vigil will be held at College Green to remember the victims of the shooting, with speakers including Mayor Marvin Rees.

49 people died when US-born Omar Mateen burst into popular Pulse nightclub and opened fire in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Across the world, thousands have gathered to remember the victims and show solidarity with the LGBT community.
