Becky Watts: A timeline of events
As Nathan Matthews is found guilty of murder, and Shauna Hoare of manslaughter, we take a look at how 16-year-old Becky Watts was killed, and hidden from her family and police.
Matthews and Hoare arrive at the family home in Crown Hill, knowing Becky will be alone in the house.
Within minutes they go upstairs, with a plan to kidnap– and sexually abuse – the teen, before killing her. The pair suffocate Becky, before taking her body downstairs and placing it in the boot of their car.
The pair then spend the rest of their day “acting normal” with Becky’s family before leaving around 7pm.
At 7pm Matthews and Shauna Hoare return to their home, at Cotton Mill Lane. They then bring Becky’s body into the house.
The couple visit Crown Hill again, where Matthews fakes a phone call from a friend asking for his help.
Matthews leaves the home, driving to B&Q, before choosing and buying a circular saw.
He is also caught on CCTV buying bottles of "One shot drain cleaner'. He returns home where he moves Becky into the bath, where he begins to dismember her.
Darren Galsworthy dials 999 to report Becky missing shortly after 4pm.
Matthews takes Ms Hoare to a number of stores around Bristol to buy items including black rubbish bags, bleach, gloves and three rolls of clingfilm
Matthews and Hoare visit a number of stores around Bristol city centre, again buying items such a rubble sacks, duct tape and sponges.
Police ask to speak to Matthews and Shauna Hoare - who tell them they are on their way to Hoare's mothers.
Later that night Matthews rings friend Karl Demetrius and organises for him, and James Ireland to take the suitcases and blue box to the shed at 9 Barton Court.
Becky’s father, Darren Galsworthy, and grandmother, Pat Watts, make an appeal for her to return.
Family and community gather at Watts house in Crown Hill then set out on a mass search for Becky.
Matthews and Hoare are first interviewed by police as witnesses in the missing person enquiry.
CSI teams find blood stains on door frame of bathroom in Cotton Mill Lane.
Matthews and Hoare is interviewed for a second time by police, still as a witness in the missing person enquiry.
CSI notice one of the blood stains has a fingerprint in it and in another appears to be a hand mark.
While at Shauna's parent's house both are arrested for kidnap and taken into custody.
Following forensic discoveries Matthews is arrested for murder. The 28-year-old confesses to killing his step-sister, and tells officers where her remains are.
Officers searching a shed in Barton Court discover a number of suitcases and bags - inside which they find Becky's dismembered body.
The occupiers of the home, Jaydene Parsons and Karl Demetrius are arrested for assisting an offender.
Matthews tells police he intended to kidnap Becky, describing his plan in detail.
After finding incriminating text messages on her phone Hoare is re-arrested for murder.
