Olympic Torch Relay: Street-by-street route

The Olympic Torch Relay begins in Land's End on the 19th May 2012 signalling the beginning of a 70-day journey around the UK. In total, 8,000 torch bearers are involved in the relay.

Below is a street-by-street route the London 2012 Olympic torch relay will take around the South West.

Cornwall's Ben Ainslie will kick-start the UK leg of the Olympic Torch Relay.

On the 16th May it was announced that David Beckham will make a special guest appearance at the official handover ceremony of the Olympic Flame in Athens and bring it back to Cornwall for the start of the torch relay.

The LA Galaxy star and former England captain, who was part of London 2012's winning bid team to stage the Games, will be joined by five young people, from schools and colleges which are part of London 2012's Get Set education network.

They'll fly from Athens to RNAS Culdrose landing on the evening of Friday 18 May.
