Man airlifted to hospital after quarry fall

A man's been rescued from a quarry near Llanberis after falling into a hole.

Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team were called out yesterday morning to reports of a man that had gone down a quarry hole in the Dinorwic quarry, and not returned.

He had fallen into an area of the quarry known as Twch Mar, and was badly injured.

Rescue teams took more than three hours to bring the casualty to safety, and had to be lowered to him with ropes, before treating him and moving to a safe and more stable part of the quarry.

From here he was able to be winched out by the Coastguard, to Llanberis community centre where a doctor from the air ambulance was waiting.

Once stabilised, he was flown to hospital.
