Stranded ferry to make further attempt to dock at Fishguard

A Stena Line ferry, currently stranded near the Welsh coast with nearly 150 people on board, will attempt to dock again in Fishguard at around 11am today.

The Stena Line ferry is currently taking shelter around the Cardigan Bay area.

The ferry left Rosslare in the Republic of Ireland at around 9am yesterday, but severe weather conditions meant the ferry had to abandon its initial attempts at docking at Fishguard yesterday afternoon.

The Stena Europe 0900 sailing from Rosslare yesterday morning attempted to berth at approximately 1530 in the afternoon, but due to extreme weather conditions this was unsuccessful. The health and safety of passengers and crew is of paramount importance to Stena Line, therefore we spent a comfortable night onboard sheltering at Cardigan Bay. We are sailing south now and as soon as berthing parameters are safe we aim to have our passengers on their way by 11:00hrs this morning (22.11.16).

The progress of the ferry, currently sheltering off the coast near Aberaeron, can be tracked on the Marine Traffic website here.
