South Wales Police are appealing for information to locate a man who is missing after he setting off on a car journey on Sunday morning.

Russell Sherwood, who is 69, from Cilfrew, Neath, left his home in his silver Ford Focus with registration beginning ‘CP66’ at approximately 6.15am, and was heading to an address in Ewenny, Bridgend.

He failed to arrive at the address and a search has been launched by police to find him.

Officers believe he reached Stormy Down, Bridgend, in his vehicle and are appealing to anybody who may have information to make contact.

Some roads in Stormy Down were affected by flooding.

Officers are searching on the ground and we have also had the police helicopter assisting from above.

Obviously we are concerned for his welfare – he has not going missing before and would always ensure a family member is aware if he is going to be late, but they have not heard anything.

– Inspector Andy Walbeoff, South Wales Police
