Village post suspended after postwoman 'attacked' by dog
Residents in a village have been told not to expect any mail delivered to their homes in the run up to Christmas - after a dog allegedly attacked a postwoman.
People living in Ystalyfera in the Swansea Valley have had their deliveries suspended after an incident with a 'large mastiff dog'.
They're now being forced to travel five miles away to pick up their post from a sorting office in a nearby town.
Royal Mail said they hadn't decided when the suspension would be lifted, and refused to say whether it would be lifted before Christmas.
A spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that mail deliveries to residents in and around Zoar Road in Ystalyfera have been temporarily suspended following an incident on Monday with a large mastiff dog.
Royal mail say they are now carrying out their own investigation, and are working with the dog owner and the local police to ensure that the dog is restrained.
