Police say a mother and newborn baby might be in need of "urgent medical attention" after a possible birth outside in the open air, with no supervision.
Gwent Police is dealing with an incident which indicates that a female may have given birth to a baby without any medical assistance or supervision, possibly in the open air, sometime in the last 48 hours in the Penhow area of Newport.
Both the baby and the mother may be in need of urgent medical attention and care, and Gwent Police are appealing for anyone with information to help trace them.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Gwent Police on the 101 number.
