Two men who died after swimming near a north Wales waterfall have been named as Steffan Robert Vernon and Alexander Hadley. The men were part of a group of four who went for a swim in the water near Llanberis yesterday morning.

The two men who died after getting into difficulty swimming near a waterfall in north Wales have been named.

Steffan Robert Vernon 33, from Caernarfon and 21-year-old Alexander Hadley from Dinorwig, near Llanberis, were swimming with two others in a pool near a waterfall close to Snowdon Mountain Railway in Llanberis yesterday morning. A rescue operation was launched after the four men got into difficulty and two men were taken to hospital for treatment. Mr Vernon's and Mr Hadley's bodies were recovered later.

Denbighshire Coroner's Office confirmed an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the two men had started. Inquests will be opened in due course.

North Wales Police says their deaths are not being treated as suspicious.
