The couple, from Blaina, in Gwent travelled to Sandown and were booked into a hotel. However, 71-year-old Mr Davies, who suffers from high blood pressure, disappeared soon after midnight and has not been seen for almost 24 hours.

Detectives said that the pensioner had last been seen at the Hotel Maria in Sandown on Tuesday evening. However Mr Davies has not been seen since 9.30pm, when he was thought to have wandered off after dinner.

Detectives said the pensioner's family were worried because Mr Davies relied on medication to control his blood pressure, which he would not have access to.

He is described as white, with cropped white hair, and wearing a blue t-shirt, blue Reebok jumper, jeans and a baseball cap.
