South Wales Police have thanked the local community in Barry and Porthcawl for their "support and patience" while investigating the murder of Conner Marshall.
"We know incidents like this can cause a great deal of concern and anxiety" said DCI Kath Pritchard.
"The community support has undoubtedly helped us to bring the person responsible for Conner’s murder to justice."
The man who admitted the murder - 26-year-old David James Braddon from Caerphilly - will be sentenced on June 3.
David Braddon, 26, is jailed for life for the murder of an innocent teenager at a holiday caravan park.
Conner Marshall died of injuries in hospital after being found at the Trecco Bay holiday park in Porthcawl in March.
