Defendant Zack Davies, 25, of King Street in Mold, appeared for a few minutes at Mold Crown Court for a preliminary hearing. But it was adjourned for 24 hours when it emerged that both the prosecution and defence had instructed the same barrister.

Judge Rhys Rowlands adjourned the preliminary hearing until Tuesday to allow the prosecution to instruct a new barrister. He remanded Davies in custody until then so that a plea hearing and a provisional trial date could be fixed.

Davies is charged with the attempted murder of 24-year-old Sarandev Bhambra of Leeds who works in Mold as a dentist. The incident happened while he was shopping at the Tesco superstore during his lunchbreak on Wednesday.

The defendant is accused of attacking Mr Bhambra with a bladed weapon which left him with deep cuts to the left hand, his back and to the back of his head. Davies, with short cropped hair, and wearing a grey jogging suit, spoke only to confirm his name.
