Girl who inspired #pantsonyourhead campaign loses cancer battle

The family of a Cardiff school girl who desperately needed a bone marrow transplant have taken to Twitter to announce the news that she has passed away.

Hollie Clarke had a rare bone marrow failure syndrome and her family launched a campaign to urge people to become donors with the charity Anthony Nolan.

The #pantsonyourhead campaign encouraged people to sign up, and show support by posing for a photograph with their pants on their heads.

A number of famous faces, including Gareth Bale and Sam Warburton backed the campaign, and the family held a donor recruitment drive in Cardiff.

However on Thursday her family tweeted, "RIP Hollie. We tried our best. You were the best daughter any Mum & Dad could wish for. Thank you".
