Singer's former girlfriend 'warned' police of abuse

A former girlfriend of convicted paedophile Ian Watkins has told ITV News he admitted to her that he wanted to abuse children five years ago. Joanne Mjadzelics says she took her concerns to the police but they ignored her.

Watkins has since admitted 13 charges of abuse and is due to be sentenced tomorrow.

Tonight in a frank interview, Ms Miadzelics talks to our reporter Nicola Hendy about her relationship with Watkins and how he tried to silence her.

Although his former girlfriend was not called to give evidence in the case, she claims the Lostprophets frontman joked about getting away with it. Given the nature of Watkin's conviction you may find some of the content of her interview distressing.
