Emma was a victim of sexual abuse in Wales. Here's her story.
At the age of eight, Emma was abused by a family member and by the time she was ten she was regularly self harming namely cutting herself and taking overdoses.
At 12, Emma was raped by strangers, who were subsequently prosecuted.
School was really difficult and by 12 I'd stopped going. I was taken into care and had loads of carers who said they couldn't cope with me.
She was placed in a residential unit away from her home in order to reduce her risk-taking behaviours. There she met another woman who was being sold for sex by someone she had thought of as her boyfriend.
I got involved with older men who I thought would be my friend or love me; they gave me alcohol and drugs and I could stay with them and not go back to the unit. I had sex with them.
Emma went along with the woman and immediately became involved in exchanging sexual acts for drugs, alcohol and stay overnight.
Just before her 16th birthday she was referred to the Barnardo's Cymru Seraf Service.
The last time I was in the unit, I met someone from Barnardo's. My Barnardo's worker keeps in regular contact and is helping me to stay in one place and keep myself safe.
