Aberdare murder accused in court

An 18-year-old man appeared in court this morning charged with the murder of 45-year-old Andrew David Male, whose body was found at a house on Cardiff Road on Wednesday morning.

Aberdare man named

A man who died at his home in Aberdare in the early hours of this morning has been named as Andrew David Male. He was 45.

South Wales Police have launched a murder investigation. An 18-year-old man arrested after the incident is being held at Cardiff Bay Police Station.

People will be shocked about what has occurred in their usually quiet community, but I am appealing for some perspective as this type of incident is extremely rare. We have a team of specially trained investigators assigned to this case, and local officers are carrying out house to house enquiries, providing reassurance to local people. We have somebody in custody and are doing everything we possibly can at this stage.
